Bullets Down Pigs
The Brisbane Bullets moved to fifth place on the NBL ladder with a 15 point win over expansion club, the West Sydney Razorbacks. Steve Woodberry was the game M.V.P with 33 points and Thaddeous Delaney hauled in 20 boards.


Titans Outlast Kings
The Victorian Titans have finaly found some form, beating the Sydney Kings 101-92 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre tonight. The Titans had suffered from poor outside shooting in their previous outings but tonight they found their range from the outside.


Gaze Kills Wildcats
Andrew Gaze scored 45 points including 9 three pointers as the Melbourne Tigers improved to 4-0 with a 15 point humbling of the Perth Wildcats at the PEC. Gaze was amazing and with 24 points in the first quarter, he was all set up for a huge game.


Cannons get First Win
The Canberra Cannons have shrugged off the effects on an uncertain future and 0-4 start to upstage the previously undefeated Falcons 98-94 on their own home court in a gutsy performance.


Bruton Carries Hawks
C.J Bruton has again lifted the Wollongong Hawks to victory, this time C.J scored 38 points including the game tying shot to put the game into overtime. The Hawks were all but gone late in the fourth until Bruton weaved his magic.


NBL Stands by Dunk Ruling
The National Basketball League has supported the controversial technical foul issued by referee Graham Clarke on Sydney forward Matt Nielsen for hanging on the ring in the Kings' 103-97 loss to expansion team West Sydney.


Rillie Lifts Razorbacks
John Rillie scored 16 fourth quarter points to lift the Razorbacks to their first ever win in franchise history, downing the Kings 103-97 on their own home court. Matt Nielson took the Kings out of the match with 2 costly Tech's.


Tigers of to 'Titanic' start
Melbourne ensured Victoria Titans' national basketball league debut was a less than memorable occasion when it beat the merged club 99-80 at Melbourne Park here tonight. Big things were expected of the team formed out of the North Melbourne Giants and South East Melbourne Magic merger, but the Titans failed to flatter against the Tigers, who wasted no time making an impression on the NBL's first summer season.


Crocs win Home Opener
The Townsville Crocodiles withstood a strong game from Bullets superstar Steve Woodberry (31 points) to win their 1998/99 season opener 91-84 at the 'Swamp' (formely the furnace) in Townsville yesterday.


Wildcats Beat 36ers
The Perth Wildcats have made a dream start to their 1998/99 season, turning back the defending champion 36ers by 10 points at the PEC this afternoon. New Wildcats Centre Paul Rodgers finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in an impressive display.


Bullets Thrash Cannons
The Brisbane Bullets have made an impressive start to their 1998 Summer season campaign with a 110-78 drubbing of the strife torn Canberra Cannons at the Brisbane Convention Centre.


Falcons Win Battle Of The Birds
The Newcastle Falcons shrugged off an off-season of turmoil to open their national basketball league campaign with a crushing 100-76 victory over Wollongong at the Wollogong Entertainment Centre tonight. The Falcons rained on the parade of the Hawk's first game in their new home with one of the most one-sided games in recent NBL history.


Dwight cleared, Rucker out
The West Sydney Razorbacks recieved both good and bad news on the eve of their NBL debut against the Sydney Kings. First came the news that Simon Dwight will be cleared to play after a bizare turn of events involving his ACT BA clearance.


Tiger look to bench to fire
It's a tough gig trying to improve on the "best team ever", but Melbourne Tigers coach Lindsay Gaze believes it is about to happen. Since winning the 1997 NBL title, the Tigers' roster has changed only their ages and underwear. Last season the team battled injury and illness before leaving the playoffs in the first round.


Cannons 5 game lifeline
The National Basketball League and the ACT Government will provide insolvent Canberra Cannons with six-figure, interim funding for the first five games of the inaugural summer season. But the Cannons will need to attract new investors to remain in the league.


Razorbacks Off-Court Relations With Kings Mediocre
West Sydney chief executive officer Robbie Cadee today described the Razorbacks relationship with Sydney Kings as "mediocre", and predicted plenty of emotion when the national basketball league's newest franchise hits the court on Saturday night.
